Ketchup Chips
These do look a little prosaic. Dehydrated tomato slices, right? Well, a little more. For those of you who like the flavor of ketchup, and might use it more often, if it didn't make bread soggy. These are seasoned with the same flavor profile as ketchup. The key it turns out is a little brown sugar and some clove. They are actually quite fetching just on their own, rather tart. I sliced them paper thin and completely utterly dessicated them, so they're crunchy. I just put a few on a turkey sandwich. Delightful. They could also be powdered and sprinkled on a salad, or anywhere you might want that flavor but not the goop of ketchup.

Huh. For some time I've considered using a dehydrator/processor to make a ketchup powder, to mix with a little bit of salt, to have something to use on French fries when you're in the car...powder being potentially less messy than ketchup. This looks like just the thing to try. Did you just sprinkle a little ground clove and brown sugar on them before drying the tomato slices?
Yes, that's exactly it. You could probably add herbs too, it would even be better.
I made dried mushroom powder a month ago and loved it, very concentrated flavor and great sprinkled on things.
Don't have a dehydrator but would love to try this..crisp tomatoes sound awfully good... I love it when you play with your food.....
