Fornax the Oven

Isn't she gorgeous? Fires like a dream. I baked a sourdough loaf and then a spatchcocked chicken for her first load. Interestingly neither tasted smoky at all, the smoke really stops once she is super hot. Note to self, I need a metal peel, a little narrower than my pizza peel, and an ash bucket! And a small mop! Otherwise the kiddie gardening set's hoe and shovel worked perfectly. I completely forgot about oven tools!

Ken, it looks the essence of authenticity! Seriously, I'm jealous.

Fire goes inside, the you scrape it out and bake. I'll post a picture of a pizza inside next chance I get.

Oh, my. This is a LOT more doable than that gorgeous, yet pricey oven that the Spanish Table in Berkeley has been showing off. Was that the inspiration for Fornax?

Folks, Explicit instructions are forthcoming in the next cookbook, handed over to the publisher TODAY! The only serious cost is not in materials, but in labor! My wrist is still killing me from laying bricks and spreading stucco.
